Delete your QuataPay account

You don't need the app, and you don't need to sign in. We email a code to the address on the account and you confirm it here.

Which QuataPay account?

We'll email a 6-digit code to this address to check it's really you. We reply the same way whether or not the address is registered, so nobody can use this page to find out who banks with us.

What happens, and when

1

Straight away

The account is locked. Nobody can sign in to it, and it stops appearing as a person you can send money to.

2

For 30 days

You can still change your mind. Sign in on the cancellation page with your email and password and the account comes back as it was.

3

After 30 days

Your name, email address, phone number and username are erased and the password is made unusable. This cannot be undone.

What is deleted

When the 30 days are up, the following are erased from your account:

  • Your name and username
  • Your email address and phone number
  • Your password, which is replaced with a value nothing can match — the account can never be signed into again

What we keep, for how long, and why

A few records outlive the account they came from. They are kept because the law requires it — not because we want them — and they are never used to market to you or to rebuild your profile. Once your account has been erased, what remains carries an anonymous account reference rather than your name.

  • Transactions and the wallet ledger

These are the financial record of money that actually moved, including money that moved to other people. They are retained for the statutory accounting and anti-money-laundering period set by Cameroonian law, which is why we cannot put a shorter date on them.

  • Identity documents submitted for KYC

Cameroon Law 2024/017 sets a minimum retention period for verified identity records. We cannot delete these before it expires, even at your request.

  • The internal audit log

A tamper-evident record of who did what, including this deletion. It is what protects you if a payment is ever disputed after the fact.

When we will refuse

Erasing an account we still owe money to would leave nobody to pay, so we stop and name the specific reason. You will see a message if any of these apply:

  • Your wallet, card, agent float or merchant settlement balance is not zero
  • Money on the account is locked against work that has not finished
  • A cash-out, payout or settlement is still being processed
  • A card is still active — close it first
  • An escrow payment has not been released
  • A dispute or a transaction is still in progress
  • The account is under review

Each of these is temporary. Withdraw what you are owed, wait for anything in flight to finish, then come back here.

Other ways to do this

If you can still sign in, the same option is in the app and in your dashboard under Settings. If you can no longer reach the email address on the account, write to support@quatapay.com and we will verify you another way. Our Privacy Policy sets out everything we hold and the rights you have over it.
