How adding and withdrawing money works

QuataPay keeps your balance in a wallet in Central African francs (XAF). Before you can send money or pay a merchant, you put money in the wallet. Today the way to do that from your phone is MTN Mobile Money: you open Add money in the app, pick MTN Mobile Money, enter your MTN number and the amount, and the app shows you the fee before you confirm. You can also hand cash to a QuataPay agent, who credits your wallet from their counter.

Other ways to add money, Orange Money and bank transfer among them, appear as coming soon until they are switched on. The app only offers what is available at that moment.

To take money out, you can cash out at a QuataPay agent or withdraw to a bank, credit union or MFI account, which QuataPay pays within 3 working days. Cash-out straight to MTN MoMo or Orange Money is coming soon. Every withdrawal fee, including the five cash-out tiers, is listed on the fees page and shown on screen before you confirm.
